In 2021, Ukraine saw a 22.2% increase in exports of vegetable oils, margarine, and products from fats and oils, reaching $7.05 billion. Refined and unrefined sunflower oil made up 90.8% of these exports, bringing in $6.05 billion. Soybean and rapeseed oil exports also increased. The peak months for these exports were December and November, while the fewest were exported in August, September, and July. Ukraine also increased imports of palm oil and other fats and oils by 58.4% compared to 2020. The trade in fats and oils of vegetable and animal origin brought in $6.6 billion, a 20.3% increase from 2020, and was the fourth largest source of foreign exchange earnings for Ukraine in 2021.
