Tajikistan's Ministry of Agriculture is planning for a record harvest this year, with crops covering 611.8 thousand hectares, including cereals, vegetables, melons, and fruit trees. The country's gross agricultural output is projected to increase from 36.4 billion somoni in 2021 to 39.5 billion somoni in 2022. However, the country faces challenges such as potential shortages and high prices of essential produce like potatoes and fruits, despite having surplus production. Factors like increased production costs and lack of processing facilities for vegetables, along with reliance on nature for agriculture due to lack of advanced technologies and machinery, pose significant challenges to achieving the planned harvest and export goals.
