The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan has finally allowed the export of all varieties of red dragon fruits (pitaya) from China, including red-fleshed varieties, to Japan. This decision comes after many years of negotiations and tests to ensure the fruit is safely treated for fruit flies. Currently, 11 types of fresh fruits from China, including mango, grape, and dragon fruit, can be exported to Japan. In 2011, the export sales volume of red dragon fruits reached 265 metric tons, with an export output value of 23.705 million yuan. Japan has become China's largest market for fruit exports, with the total export volume increasing more than four times compared to 2015.
