Brazil is set to begin exporting avocados to Japan, as announced by the country's Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro. This approval is part of a broader strategy by the Brazilian government to expand agricultural markets, which has seen the opening of 182 new markets in 20 months, covering 53 countries, an unprecedented record. The diversification of economic opportunities is seen as crucial amidst flat commodity prices. Other recent successes include the authorization for Brazilian beef exports to Mexico, approval for Brazilian cotton in Egypt, and the introduction of kosher chicken meat from Brazil into Israel. So far this year, Brazil has secured 104 new markets for its agribusiness products.
