As they wrote, the European Commission gave the EU the name "Jászság summer truffle" in a regulation published on 19 August. It was added that the protected geographical indication for the summer truffle in Jászság refers to the fresh local version of the underground fungus of the summer truffle (Tuber aestivum Vittad.) Collected in the designated geographical area. Its production area is located in Jászság in the Tarna and Zagyva valleys in the Northern Great Plain. The summer truffle from Jászság is mostly found on the roots of oak, hazelnut and hornbeam in a natural way, but it also grows on plantations, so-called Trifla gardens. In Jászság, we typically find Trifla gardens created with oaks, the ministry explained. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the unique aroma of Jászság summer truffles is most reminiscent of boiled corn or roasted and fermented barley malt, accompanied by the characteristic aroma of freshly mowed grass.
