Director Choi Yong-seok of the National Fisheries Science Institute visited Pohang, Gyeongbuk, on the 20th to inspect the jellyfish collection site and the high-temperature response situation at the land-based aquaculture farm, and held a meeting with fishermen to listen to difficulties in the fishing industry. Currently, a preliminary warning for Nomura's jellyfish (27 July, 10 individuals/ha) and a preliminary special alert for high water temperature (12 August) have been issued for the Pohang waters. The high-temperature alert stages are divided as follows: a preliminary special alert when the water temperature reaches 25°C, a warning when it is predicted to reach 28°C, and an alert when it exceeds 28°C for more than three consecutive days. Nomura's jellyfish is a major cause of fishery damage, leading to gear loss, decreased catch, and reduced product quality.
