Jeollanam-do Launches Consumption Promotion Campaign for Onion Supply Stabilization

The Jeollanam-do Province is launching a nationwide onion consumption promotion campaign to recover the sharply declined wholesale prices of this year's onions due to increased production. According to the Korea Rural Economic Institute's forecast, mid to late-season onions are expected to increase by 34,000 tons compared to last year. With the harvest of early-season onions in April and the mid to late-season onion harvest approaching in June, and optimal growing conditions created, onion production per unit area is expected to increase by 7.5% compared to the previous year.
