Kazakhstan's interdepartmental commission on foreign trade policy and participation in economic organizations decided to ban the export of onions for a period of 3 months. This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This decision was made to prevent the mass export of onions from Kazakhstan and to stabilize their prices.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, in 2022, the onion harvest in the country amounted to 1.1 million tons, while the annual volume of domestic consumption is about 315 thousand tons, that is, almost 3.5 times less.
