Kazakhstan experienced an 18.5% increase in potato exports in the first eleven months of 2022, reaching 194.8 thousand tons, as reported by the Bureau of National Statistics. The country also saw a decrease in potato imports by 51.6%, importing only 47.3 thousand tons in 2022 compared to 97.6 thousand tons in 2021. The gross potato harvest in 2022 was 4.1 million tons, marking a 1.2% increase from the previous year. However, the Union of Potato and Vegetable Growers of Kazakhstan highlighted the existence of 'gray' dealers in the potato market, hindering stable contract negotiations with Uzbekistan, a promising export market.
