Kazakhstan and Tajikistan's Khatlon region are set to increase cooperation in agricultural product supply, with Kazakhstan planning to buy larger amounts of onions, cabbage, and carrots from the region. The annual cost of these purchases is estimated to be between $45-50 million. The Khatlon region can produce up to 500,000 tons of onions per year, which is much more than Kazakhstan's average monthly demand. Kazakhstan recently suspended onion exports to stabilize local prices.
