Kenya's agricultural agency, Kephis, is discussing potential avocado market opportunities with the US, South Korea, Jordan, India, and Mauritius to address an anticipated glut due to the expansion of avocado cultivation areas. This expansion, which has seen the area under avocado cultivation grow to over 20,000 hectares from 7,000 hectares in 2013, has made the fruit a popular alternative source of income in non-traditional growing areas. These discussions aim to broaden Kenya's avocado export markets beyond Europe and the Middle East.
