The Korea Customs Service is taking steps to prevent the declaration of low prices for dried onions imported from China by designating them as items subject to preliminary tax assessment. This action follows reports of unusually low import prices for dried onions, significantly lower than local prices in China. The Customs Service also plans to expand its investigation to other items likely to be reported at low prices. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is considering the designation of dried ginger, and possibly dried onions, in the distribution history management system to better manage imported agricultural products and prevent violations of origin.
