Incheon has seen a decade-high catch of blue crabs since 2012, with a record 2,117 tons caught between January and September. This represents a 52% increase compared to the previous year, with September marking the first time over 2,000 tons were caught in a month since 2012. The increase in catch is attributed to increased precipitation from the rainy season, which led to improved water quality and plankton growth, as well as Incheon's efforts in releasing blue crab fry and cracking down on illegal fishing. Incheon is responsible for approximately 45% of the country's total blue crab production.
