In March, Peru has seen a significant impact on food prices due to various factors. Heavy rains in the northern part of the country have led to a 19% increase in lemon prices, a situation expected to be temporary according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP). Additionally, the price of chicken has surged due to an outbreak of avian flu and a decrease in soybean meal availability, a crucial part of chicken food. However, BCRP remains optimistic, anticipating a rise in chicken production and a decrease in prices once measures such as importing fertile eggs and vaccinating birds are implemented. Conversely, the price of white potatoes has drastically fallen by 27% this month.
