Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the Minister for Food and Agriculture in Ghana, has emphasized the importance of maintaining the country's reputation as a premier producer of high-quality cocoa beans. Despite being surpassed by Côte d'Ivoire in total production, Ghana's cocoa is highly valued for its quality, which accounts for about 25% of the price determination. To keep this advantageous position, Akoto stressed the need for stringent quality control measures, as other countries are improving their cocoa quality. A new five-member board for the Quality Control Company (QCC) Limited, a subsidiary of COCOBOD, has been sworn in to ensure the export of only top-quality cocoa and other produce.
