The Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Castro, has distributed over 40,000 gamitana fingerlings to 40 fish farmers in the Fernando Lores district, Maynas, Loreto region, aiming to boost food security and sustainable fishing. This move is expected to generate over half a million soles in income for these communities. During the event, the Minister also introduced the first fish reproduction package developed by the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP), and announced the delivery of technological equipment to the Regional Government of Loreto for forest monitoring and conservation, supported by a budget of around S/446,000.
