In 2024, Malaysia exported 54,665 tonnes of palm oil and palm-based products to Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, valued at RM288.23 million. The country's Plantation and Commodities Ministry, along with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), is working to strengthen its palm oil supply position in Central Asia and regain market dominance in Pakistan. Malaysia's palm oil exports to Pakistan, one of its top 10 importers, make up 18-25% of the country's total imports. The ministry is also looking into reinstate the Smallholder Replanting Financing Scheme to full grants and will participate in a global expo in Osaka, Japan, to explore using palm biomass waste for electricity generation.
