Russia has seen a substantial increase in oilseed flax harvest over the past three years, with projections for the 2022 harvest to reach approximately 1.5 million tons, a near doubling of the 2021 harvest. The country's primary focus has been on flax exportation, with notable contributions from Canada and Kazakhstan. China is the largest importer of Russian flax, followed by Belgium and Turkey. Russia is also exporting around 30,000 tons of butter per year. The country anticipates continued growth in flax production due to expanded acreage and advanced cultivation techniques, with the planned opening of two flax processing plants aiming to boost oil exports and shift the focus towards value-added products for international markets, particularly in Asia and the Middle East, where there is a growing demand for healthier and natural organic products.
