A course titled "Management of the cupuaçu fruit borer" is being conducted by Embrapa Amazônia Ocidental on June 22 to address the issues hindering the expansion of cupuaçu cultivation. This pest, caused by the fruit borer insect (Conotrachelus sp.), leads to significant damage to the fruits, rendering commercialization difficult. The course aims to educate farmers and technicians about the pest's characteristics, spread, and damage, as well as effective management strategies. The training is funded by two projects led by Embrapa Amazônia Ocidental and will be taught by its researchers. The cupuaçu tree is a crucial crop in the northern region for family farming, with potential for mono or intercropping.
