Outstanding Maranoa River property Verniew has sold at auction for a price equivalent to about $1175/ha ($476/acre). Described as ideally suited to breeding or backgrounding cattle, the 10,899ha (26,931 acre) property was bought by Damien and Sally Campbell, Currawarra, Mitchell. Three of the five parties that registered to bid were active at the Ray White Rural auction. Bidding kicked off at $9m, ultimately reducing to $10,000 bids in a reflection for the demand for the quality country. Located 40km north of Mitchell and 120km from Roma, the freehold property features a combination of developed country growing excellent stands of buffel grass and lighter timbered forest country. Verniew has an 8km double frontage to the Maranoa River on the eastern side, running back to pulled country on the western portion of the property where there are prolific stands of buffel grass.
