The Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services' Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) has initiated an investigation into alleged dumping practices in the export of powdered milk from Argentina and Uruguay, following a petition by the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock. The investigation, which could last up to 18 months, could result in the imposition of anti-dumping measures such as import surcharges if unfair price reductions are confirmed. Dumping is a practice where products are sold at prices below the normal value, a method considered unfair by the World Trade Organization.
