With the expected occurrence of jellyfish this month, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries is preparing step-by-step measures to minimize fishery damage from massive jellyfish outbreaks and is organizing and operating jellyfish response organizations according to crisis alert levels. On May 28th, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced that it will implement the '2025 Jellyfish Fishery Damage Prevention Measures' to minimize marine resource and socio-economic damages from massive jellyfish outbreaks in coastal and offshore waters. According to the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, due to low water temperatures, the moon jellyfish's floating larval occurrence is delayed by 15-20 days compared to the previous year, but they have been discovered in high density in some areas of South Gyeongsang Province (Jaran Bay, Geoje).
