The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development in Mexico, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula, announced seven scholarships for Mexicans to participate in the Geographical Indications Seminar, funded by the French government and various Mexican institutions. This initiative aims to provide small-scale producers with a way to engage in more profitable business practices and potentially export to the European Union. The Geographical Indications System is a means of protecting the diversity of agri-food systems and adding value to products by recognizing their geographical origin. France has a registry of approximately 1,000 geographical indications, generating around 40 billion euros in value.
