In response to a Hemorrhagic Septicemia outbreak that claimed the lives of 410 Pampangan buffalo in South Sumatra, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has implemented measures including disinfection, antibiotic treatment, and vaccination of 514 animals. The outbreak, which struck on April 15-16, 2024, in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, affected a buffalo population of 3,970. Hemorrhagic Septicemia, a highly fatal disease caused by a serotype of Pasteurella multocida, poses a significant threat to cattle and buffalo, particularly in Asia.
