Moldova is experiencing a surge in demand for its agricultural products in the European Union market, with plans to expand the range of exports. The country has already established exports of grapes, plums, and apples, and plans to start garlic exports this year. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry is optimistic that these agricultural exports will have a positive impact on the country's economy. In 2023, Moldova exported around 35 thousand tons of grapes, 13 thousand tons of apples, and over 53 thousand tons of plums. The country also exported about 250 thousand tons of sunflower oil in 2023, a significant increase from 2021. For the first time in 2024, Moldova will export 99 tons of garlic to Poland.
