From January to July 2021, Ukraine experienced a notable increase in the production of chilled, frozen, smoked, and salted pork products, with a total rise of 8.2% or 14 thousand tons compared to the previous year. This growth is attributed to a 43% increase in active pork freezing and an 8.4% rise in the delicatessen group of pork products. Consequently, pork's share in the country's meat production has grown to 19.5%, up from 18.6% last year. Overall, the country's meat production increased by 2.75% to 950 thousand tons. Due to lower average weight prices are expected to rise, with average quotes reaching UAH 50 per kilogram of pork live weight, and prices are anticipated to rise further in early September.
