Morocco set a new record for importing nuts and dried fruits in 2023, bringing 66 thousand tons to the market in the first ten months, a 12% increase from 2022. Despite being a fast-growing exporter of fresh vegetables and fruits, Morocco relies entirely on imports for nuts and dried fruits, with a significant increase in imports between 2018 and 2021 before a slight reduction in 2022 due to economic challenges. The United States remains the main supplier of almonds and walnuts to Morocco, but is falling behind competitors from China and Chile in the walnut market.
