Over the past decade, Spain has seen a remarkable 152.3% increase in pepper imports, with Morocco emerging as the leading supplier, accounting for 90.6% of the total imports in 2023. This represents a 150.1% rise from 2014, with the volume of imports from Morocco jumping from 30.94 million kilos to 77.39 million kilos, and the value soaring from 338.05 million dirhams to 1.04 billion dirhams. Other countries like Portugal and France have also seen significant increases in their pepper exports to Spain. This trend underscores the growing importance of pepper cultivation in Morocco and its dominant role in supplying the Spanish market.
