Eggplant exports from Morocco increased in value between 2014 and 2019 by 32.8% over one year, thus generating revenues of more than $ 984,913.96 in 2019, i.e. 9.44 million dirhams, at the exchange rate in force, this July 20, 2020. This makes the Kingdom, the 27th eggplant exporting country in the world. The area reserved for this crop in 2019 was 1,902 hectares with a yield of 27.03 tons / Ha, according to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). However, the area devoted to eggplant cultivation has decreased slightly recently. Cultivation is practiced in Souss-Massa, Rabat, Gharb and all over the country and the most used variety in Morocco is Black Beauty. The main export markets for Moroccan eggplants are Mauritania, France, Spain, Portugal and Russia.
