Morocco is set to increase its wheat imports this season due to a crop failure caused by severe drought, according to the Foreign Agricultural Service under the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The country's gross wheat harvest has dropped to 2.47 million tons, and barley harvest to 0.66 million tons. Imports of wheat are projected to rise to 7.5 million tons, while barley imports will total 1.15 million tons. Moroccan importers have shifted to buying wheat from Russia and Ukraine, reducing imports from Canada and Argentina.
