Myanmar's Union Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Water Resources, U Myint Naw, has highlighted the significance of beekeeping for honey production and enhancing crop yield through cross-pollination. The department aims to spread awareness about beekeeping to involve more farmers and collaborate with the private sector to boost honey production, given the high demand in local and international markets. The Breeding and Treatment Management Department has already initiated beekeeping development education across various regions. Honey exports in the fiscal year 2022-2023 generated nearly US$3 million, demonstrating the potential and market prospects of Myanmar's beekeeping and honey production.
