Nelore Day: Meet Karvadi, the Bull That Changed Brazilian Livestock Farming

Nelore is, without a doubt, the backbone of Brazilian beef cattle farming. Present in around 80% of the national herd, according to the Brazilian Nelore Breeders Association (ACNB), the breed has consolidated itself as a symbol of productivity, hardiness, and adaptation to the tropical climate. On July 17, National Nelore Day, producers, breeders, and those passionate about the breed take the opportunity to pay homage not only to the trajectory of genetic selection in the country but also to the animals that marked an era, such as the legendary Karvadi. Imported from India in 1963, Karvadi arrived in Brazil already famous: he was a champion in traction competitions, respected for his strength and imposing presence.
