Farmers in Egypt have partnered with businessmen to cultivate and sell crops such as sesame and cumin due to the escalating prices caused by the situation in Sudan, the primary sesame supplier. Sesame, a profitable and easy-to-cultivate crop, has seen a surge in demand, with 180,000 acres dedicated to its cultivation this year, marking a 30,000-acre increase from the previous year. These crops are essential for various industries, including the production of oil, tahini, halva, and baked goods. The sesame cultivation period lasts only four months, from mid-April to the end of May, and requires specific soil conditions for optimal seed production.
