(Iksan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jin-bang = The Korea Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology announced on the 28th that it has passed all items, including quantitative fungal tests and qualitative tests for enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli and Salmonella, in the 'International Proficiency Comparison Evaluation' organized by the UK Food and Environment Research Agency (FERA).

The Institute demonstrated its internationally recognized quality management capabilities in microbial analysis through this evaluation.

This evaluation is an international verification procedure to confirm whether food and agricultural materials can accurately detect pathogenic microorganisms, with major testing institutions worldwide participating to evaluate analysis accuracy, consistency of results, and standardization of procedures.

The passing judgment signifies that the institution meets the analysis capabilities and quality management at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) level.

The Institute continues to make efforts as an authorized testing and research institution, including fertilizer testing and research institutions, feed testing and inspection institutions, and organic agricultural materials testing and research institutions, to improve the quality and reliability of the entire agricultural materials industry.

In particular, it is conducting quality inspections of distributed agricultural materials entrusted by agricultural materials companies and supervisory agencies, and is also providing technical support and specialized education to improve the quality of microbial products for livestock and poultry.

Gang Shin-ho, Director of the Agricultural Environment Analysis Division at the Institute, said, "This international proficiency evaluation is a result that once again confirms the reliability of the analysis services provided by the Institute" and "We will continue to provide high-quality analysis services through the introduction of advanced analysis technologies and the enhancement of professional capabilities."
