Partners from the CFIA, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture are collaborating with stakeholders to monitor and manage the spread of Dermo, a disease affecting oysters. This condition poses no risk to human health or food safety but can lead to increased mortality and slowed growth in oysters. The cooperation aims to implement necessary actions, build on existing protective measures, enhance animal surveillance, and conduct tracing and testing to understand the disease's dynamics and distribution.
