The Office of Agricultural Economics has forecasted a decrease in longan and lychee production in northern Thailand for 2023. Longan production is expected to decrease by 0.31% due to low market prices, resulting in reduced planting areas, but total production is predicted to slightly increase by 0.52% to 1.03 million tons. Lychee production, on the other hand, is expected to decrease by 13.37% due to farmers shifting to other crops and adverse weather conditions. Longan production is expected to be available in the market from July to September, with the highest release in August. Meanwhile, lychee production is expected to be available from April to July.
