Dutch onion sales to West Africa continue to increase

Ivory Coast was the largest buyer in the week of 15 to 21 July with 2,613 tonnes. Sales to Ivory Coast are therefore starting faster than a year ago. In the first three weeks of the new sales season, almost 5,200 tonnes have already been shipped to Ivory Coast. This means an increase of 50 percent compared to last year. Last year, exports to Ivory Coast were somewhat more difficult. This was due to the higher prices that had to be paid for the onions. This year, prices are a lot lower. Guinea was the second largest buyer in week 29, with a quantity of 2,122 tonnes. Nevertheless, sales to this West African country are still behind the first three weeks of last year. However, the difference has so far been limited to less than 8 percent.
