The Ministry of Agriculture in Portugal is allocating two million euros to a Notice aimed at preventing the spread of Xylella fastidiosa, a bacterium posing a risk to agricultural holdings. This measure, part of the 2014-2020 Rural Development Program, will support nurseries producing ornamental, fruit, and vine species, with up to 80% of the total cost of proposed investments covered, capped at 80,000 euros per beneficiary. This initiative addresses the concern of Xylella fastidiosa's spread, with recent positive findings identified in the Metropolitan Area of Porto and Viana do Castelo, highlighting the importance of financial support to mitigate the risk.
