The "2025 China Tree Nut Annual Report" recently released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that China's walnut production for the 2025/26 crop season is expected to remain flat at 1.55 million tons; macadamia production is expected to increase by more than 30% from the previous season, reaching 91,000 tons; and pecan production is expected to increase by over 70% from the previous season due to increased fruit set. Walnut China is the world's largest walnut producer, accounting for about 55% of the global supply. The commercial production of in-shell walnuts in China for the 2025/26 season (September to August of the following year) is expected to be 1.55 million tons. The largest walnut-producing region, Xinjiang, accounts for nearly 40% of the national production. Due to favorable growing conditions, it is expected to have a bumper harvest this autumn.
