The annual meeting of the North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) was held in London, resulting in several proposals aimed at conserving and maximizing the use of fishery resources in the NEAFC Regulatory Area. Key outcomes included the continuation of the closure of the Rockall haddock box to protect juvenile haddock, the adoption of measures for mackerel and Atlanto-Scandian herring, and the adoption of stock-specific management measures such as prohibiting directed fishing for certain species. Additionally, proposals were adopted to address climate change impacts and to recognize closed areas as Other Effective Area Based Conservation Measures.
