The Nitrogen Climate Smart (NCS) project, spearheaded by PGRO and funded by Innovate UK, is aiming to boost pulse cropping from 5% to 20% in the UK's arable rotations. This initiative is expected to lower the country's agricultural carbon footprint and reduce dependence on imported soya meal for livestock feed. The project, involving 18 partners and a network of farmers, will conduct trials over the next four years, with the first contracts signed in February and at least 40 farmers expected to participate.
