The Panamanian Ministry of Agricultural Development (Mides) has announced a surge in the cultivation of melon, watermelon, and pumpkin, with a projected increase in acreage by 52.2% for the 2021-2022 season. This recovery, following pandemic setbacks, is expected to yield around 2,228 containers worth €26,148,485. The ministry anticipates this growth to generate job opportunities and boost the income of those involved in the value chain, including farming, processing, and export.
