In September, China imported 117,000 tons of frozen boneless meat from Brazil, making it the largest supplier of this type of meat to China since December 2023. The average price per ton was US$ 4,531. Other significant imports included 33.9 thousand tons of frozen bone-in meat, with Argentina as the main supplier and Uruguay experiencing the lowest imports in at least two years. Overall, China imported 2.1 million tons of beef in the year to September, valued at US$ 10 billion, marking a 3.4% increase in volume but a 7.2% decrease in value due to lower import prices.
