Argentina: Patagonian toothfish status report

INIDEP researchers presented a characterization of the Patagonian Toothfish Fishery 2000-2022 based on their catches and proportion of juveniles from 2000 to last year, marking a series of favorable and also unfavorable points, while it was recommended to continue with the plan management measures adopted. The scientific work was summarized in the Technical Report 22/23, prepared by Patricia Martínez, Gonzalo Tróccoli, Otto Wöhler and Emiliano Di Marco, members of the Southern and Subantarctic Demersal Fish Fisheries Program, who used information from the fishing reports. and that recorded by INIDEP Observers on board vessels that have individual transferable catch quotas for the species. The maximum permissible catch set by the Federal Fisheries Council for the species last year was 3,700 tons, while the declared landings in 2022 were 3,638 tons.
