The article highlights the challenges faced by peanut cultivation in Bulgaria due to low domestic support and heavy imports primarily from China and Argentina. Despite these challenges, Bulgarian peanut varieties have found a niche in Europe, particularly in Italy, where they are highly valued for their nitrogen-fixing properties in line with the Green Deal. The Association of Peanut Producers in Sadovo is advocating for the protection of local producers, and there is optimism for the potential growth of Bulgarian peanut butter in the American market.
