Pepper growers in Myanmar's Myittha Township say there are no marketing issues and trade is based on quality. Pepper, which was commercially cultivated in 2010, is now grown and sold in various forms, both domestically and internationally. The country exports dried chillies to several countries including China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Korea. The market price for fresh peppers is around 8,000 kyats per pound, while dried peppers are priced between 5,500 and 5,800 kyats per pound. The total cost of labor for pepper production is approximately 15 lakhs per acre.
