Ecuador has experienced a significant growth in pitahaya exports in the first nine months of 2024, with a 17.6% increase in value and 7.2% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2023. The United States is the primary market, receiving 59.05% of the shipments, followed by Peru and Colombia. The European Union has also shown strong interest, with a 202% growth in imports. The average price in the United States is US$ 4.20 per kilo, while in the European Union and Hong Kong, the price is significantly higher. This growth places pitahaya among Ecuador's top five agricultural exports, with the country on track to export around US$ 200 million in 2024.
