In 2021, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States emerged as the primary markets for Peruvian fig exports, accounting for 43%, 28%, and 5% of the total shipment, respectively. The Netherlands saw a significant increase in both volume and value of fig imports from Peru, with a 35% rise in volume and a 43% increase in value, reaching a value of US $ 2 million. The average price of figs in the Netherlands also increased by 6% to US $ 5.65 per kilogram. The United Kingdom also experienced an increase in both volume and value of fig imports from Peru, with a 26% rise in volume and a 19% increase in value, totaling US $ 2 million. However, the price of figs in the UK market decreased by 6% to US $ 5.68 per kilogram due to an increase in Peruvian supply. The United States imported 52 tons of figs from Peru, marking a 29% increase in volume but an 8% decrease in value compared to the previous year, with the price dropping by 28% to US $ 3.40 per kilogram.
