The first competition for products made from recycled fishery by-products is being held. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Fisheries Promotion Agency, the "2025 Fisheries By-products Recycling Product Competition" targets six types of shellfish including oysters, clams, abalone (including pinna nobilis), razor clams, mussels, and cockles (including razor clams) that are subject to the "Act on the Promotion of Fisheries By-products Recycling" (hereinafter referred to as the "Fisheries By-products Act"). Fishery by-products are primarily composed of calcium carbonate and are currently being used as calcium materials and soil conditioners, and are also important as carbon absorbers. Anyone can participate, and the competition categories include creative products that can be commercialized, such as crafts and household items. All entries
