Bahçeli village in Ürgüp district of Nevşehir has been recognized for its commitment to ecological agriculture. The village is known for its plum drying practice, a tradition that has been ongoing for the past 50-60 years. The annual production of plums ranges from 600-700 tons, with 150-200 tons being dried and exported both domestically and internationally, including to the USA and Azerbaijan. The drying process is done naturally, and the demand for the organic, sun-dried plums is on the rise. Due to the increasing demand, the village is now sourcing additional fresh plums from neighboring cities to meet the demand. The dried plums are used not only for food but also for heating purposes.
